Central Florida is full of natural beauty, from canopies of oak trees to natural springs, there is a lot of nature to be found just a few miles from the hustle and bustle of the metro Orlando area. Here are some of our favorite activities that for those who want to explore the natural side of Central Florida.
Any guest that is looking for adventure in the outdoors will want to take a trip to Forever Florida in Kissimmee. There, guests can explore Central Florida plains and swamplands via horseback riding, hikes, or tail buggy rides. For a bit of an adrenaline rush, book a zip lining expedition. Guests can even spend a night outside with camping opportunities.
Located just a short drive north of Orlando in Orange City is Blue Springs State Park. The crystal-clear waters of this natural Florida spring are 73-degrees year-round. Guests are welcomed to swim in the spring and summer months and there are even caves to explore for certified divers. However, as the temperatures cool, the springs become a haven to manatees who migrate in from the colder waters of the winter ocean. The clear water offers the perfect place to watch dozens of these creatures up close.
Other activities include fishing, boating, and canoeing or guests can rent innertubes during the summer time. There are also plenty of walking trails around the springs and plenty of places for visitors to picnic.
Built on a 150-acre tree canopy, Orlando Tree Trek Adventure Park is a way to see Florida’ natural beauty from a bird’s eye view. The adventure park has 97 games for climbers of every level with ropes swings, nets, and tight rope bridges and even zip lines 10-60 feet above the ground. The course starts off easy and gets more challenging as participants progress through it.
Bok Tower Gardens combines the natural beauty of Florida with the beautiful landscape architecture of Frederick Law Olmsted Jr. Part of the Great Florida Birding Trail, the garden has 126 species to see, which makes it perfect for an afternoon of bird watching. Guests might even see an endangered animal like the gopher tortoise or an indigo snake on one of the two walking trails: the 1.5-mile Preserve Trail and the .75-mile Pine Ridge Nature Trail. Finally, beautiful music is heard daily at 1 and 3p.m from the 6-bell carillon inside the 205-foot Singing Tower which is the centerpiece of the grounds.
A trip to explore Orlando’s natural beauty wouldn’t be complete without an airboat ride in Shingle Creek where the headwaters to the Everglades are located. Designed to skip atop the Central Florida wetlands and swamps, the airboat rides last for 1-4 hours. On the tour, riders will get to see all types of animals in their natural habitat from endangered birds, to turtles and snakes, deer, and even the America Alligator!
There are so many ways to enjoy the natural beauty here in Florida. These are only our top five choices but there are so many other ways to get outside and enjoy the Central Florida sunshine.
