One of the most magical times of the year to visit Orlando is during the Holiday season. All over Central Florida, our tropical paradise is transformed into a winter wonderland. With unique, fun offerings at every theme park, there are so many reasons to visit Central Florida in the Winter. Here’s a peak at some of our favorite holiday events at the theme parks.
Walt Disney World
Every night at dusk, watch Cinderella’s Castle sparkle with beautiful white lights as Queen Elsa uses her powers to transform the Castle into a shimmering ice palace as part of the show A Frozen Holiday Wish.
Afterwards, the park transforms for a festive holiday celebration at the Magic Kingdom for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. With a parade featuring your favorite characters decked out for the holiday, a firework celebration, and tons of live entertainment, this special ticket event happens after dark on select nights throughout the holiday season. You can even catch a stage show featuring all the classic Disney characters signing your favorite Christmas Carols.
Set on the world stage, Epcot offers the International Festival of the Holidays where guests can celebrate the season with cultures from all over the world. This show will travel around 11 World Showcase nations to share live musical productions, seasonal food and beverage favorites, and costumed performers sharing time honored traditions from each nation.
Don’t forget to catch the nightly Candle Light Processional where Epcot features a 50-piece orchestra and massed choir singing Choral classics as a celebrity narrator tells the biblical tale of the birth of Jesus.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Sunset Season’s Greetings is a new themed light show set on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood Studios. Classic Disney Characters come to life on Billboards up and down the strip and tell a special Holiday theme tale. Plus, see the Hollywood Tower Hotel like you’ve never seen before!
Disney Animal Kingdom
Animal Kingdom will offer evening hours this holiday season. Catch nightly a nightly performance of Rivers of Light, or just enjoy all this fun holiday decorations that will transform the park.
Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
With Diagon Alley located in Universal Studios and Hogsmeade and Hogwarts at Islands of Adventure, the magic of a Harry Potter Christmas runs throughout both parks. Each area is covered with festive decorations and brilliant holiday lights fit for a Wizard. In Hogsmead, guests can enjoy a special holiday performance from The Frog Choir, and Muggles can eat special holiday treats that usually only Wizards get to enjoy.
Islands of Adventure
If you need a little help to get into the holiday spirit, head over to Grinchmas Who-liday Spectacular at Islands of Adventure’s Suess Landing. There you’ll find a live retelling of the classic tale of the Grinch Who Stole Christmas along with other Suess related fun. Plus, the land is decorated with the holiday charm of Who-ville, and you can even get a chance to meet the Grinch himself!
If you love the magic of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, you can’t miss Universal’s Holiday Parade Featuring Macy’s. This year the parade is joined by characters from the Minnons, Madagascar, and Sherk. Also in the park, make sure you catch a live performance Mannheim Steamroller as they perform all their famous holiday classics all season long.
Sea World Orlando
The entire park at Sea World is transformed into a wintery watery wonderland for the holidays. Children can get some facetime with Santa Clause in the Wild Artic or meet his most trust red-nosed reindeer Rudolph. Even the animals get in on the holiday action. Enjoy a fun holiday show from the sea lions in the hilarious Christmas comedy show Clyde and Seamore’s Countdown to Christmas. Or catch a performance of Elmo’s Christmas Wish, a musical celebration from Seasame Street favorites.
At Seaworld, even Florida gets a little ice around the holidays with Winter Wonderland on Ice—a unique ice skating extravaganza. If thawed water is more to your liking, head over to see Shamu Christmas Miracles where you can see majestic killer whales soar through the air while you enjoy your favorite holiday music.
It’ll be a Bricktacular Chirstmas over at Legoland. A 30-foot-tall Lego Christmas tree is constructed outside Market Restaurant comes alive multiples times each evening with a coordinated light and music performance. Kids can send letters to the North Pole and even meet Mrs. Claus and hear fun stories from her. Additional fun for the family includes Lego Santa and Toy Soldiers, a hiding Lego elf that leads to a fun scavenger hunt, and even an opportunity to add to a giant holiday themed Lego mosaic. Plus, don’t forget to catch a performance by the Lego Brickettes.
